About

  • Liv Tooley

I studied Kinesiology with a focus in movement science at Penn State University. During this time, I conducted a lot of intern hours in different physical therapy clinics. I noticed that patients would keep coming back for the same issue or something else! This was perplexing to me at the time. I knew something was missing in this approach, but I wasn’t completely aware of what.

Down the road I found one of passions, yoga. It made many impacts on my life - mentally, physically, and spiritually. So I became a registered yoga instructor and through this program I started to understand how the body moves (or should move) as a whole.

A life change was calling me and I acted upon it. I moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where I stumbled upon The Egoscue Method. This is where I learned postural therapy and received my 2 certifications - Postural Alignment Specialist & Advanced Exercise Therapist. Everything in my life went full circle - I found my purpose. I put everything together that I’ve learned and am now able to execute the missing puzzle pieces on how to truly help people get and remain out of pain. This line of work gives me so much hope for people and fulfills my being.

I now happily reside in Colorado with my husband and 4 fur babies. In my free time I love to be outside, hike, read, workout and camp. I am a big lover of music, traveling, meditation, holistic healing, and all animals.

  • Posture therapy

Posture therapy takes a holistic approach to the body because the body should function as a whole. For example: if your knee hurts, we need to take our focus off the knee and ask other questions. What is your ankle doing/not doing? What about your hip?

The symptom is NOT the source of the pain . The pain is there because that part of the body is overworking or overcompensating. Something else in the body has learned to shut off and become dysfunctional. We need to find which part of the body that is to get your symptoms to dissipate.

As a team we can figure out and build a series of exercise routines that will recreate balance and alignment through posture. I know what the body should do, but the client always knows their body best. I will never put someone through an exercise that will increase their pain.

This is a lifelong process to keep alignment in the body even though it won’t take that long to get out of pain. I want you to be able to do the things you love doing and enjoy life - go hiking, paddle boarding, play with your grandkids etc. By implementing a daily routine, this will also reduce the probability of injury. This process will enhance your knowledge and body awareness to know what to do when pain may arise again.

  • Yoga

Yoga is more than asanas (postures). There are actually 7 other limbs: abstinences, observances, breath work, withdrawal, concentration, meditation, and absorption.

My focus while teaching yoga is to help one become mindful of their movements with their body. Yoga will ask for you to slow down and have awareness of your body.

Yoga will help your inner growth by challenging you with patience, endurance, compassion, and discipline. It will also open new doors that you may not have been conscious of. Getting in tune with yourself is one of the most beneficial things we can do for ourselves. It is important to do the conscious and unconscious work on and off our mats.

Yoga is your personal journey back to yourself. The real you. Depending on what you would like to work on this may take some time. There is no rush, every journey is at the right speed.

Remember, you don’t have to be flexible to do yoga! You go to yoga to become flexible (in your mind, body, and spirit). Yoga itself can improve your posture and alleviate pain, but I would recommend starting with postural therapy first!
